- Wing Bee (volunteer) – Coleman Fish Hatchery Anderson, CA 2/11
waterfowl hunting season. Species, age, and sex were determined for all samples and
information was used to adjust species management plans.
- Research Assistant (volunteer) – Northern Pintail hunter surveys Delevan NWR CA
Waterfowl identification, monitor hunter check station, record age and sex of hunter
harvested Northern Pintails, and education of hunters about project and identification of
waterfowl.
- Research Assistant (volunteer) – Western Pond turtle study Chico, CA
Coordinated undergraduate crews, visual encounter surveys, trap use, GPS use, snorkel
surveys, standard measurements, age estimation, marked turtles, venipuncture from
caudal & subcapricial sinus and brachial vein, slide preparation, and white blood cell
counts.
- Lead Field Assistant – Western fence lizard endo/ecto-parasitism studies
Collect Sceloporus occidentalis by noosing, ectoparasite counts, toe-nail clip blood
collection, make blood slides, take descriptive data on lizards, describe habitats,
toe-clip marking, and PCR to amplify ribosomal DNA to identify P. mexicanum.
- Rare Pond Species Workshop
Focus species: Western Pond turtle, California Tiger salamander, and California Red-
legged frog. Gained experience with acceptable methods for capturing all species and life
stages.
- Field Assistant (volunteer)
Rattlesnake radio telemetry, restraint of tubed rattlesnakes for caudal vein blood draw,
PIT tagging, paint injection marking of rattle.

- Confident PADI Certified SCUBA diver with cold water diving experience and temperate pacific coast marine fish identification

- Navigation skills - use of GPS, topographic maps, and compass to navigate safely in wilderness settings
